  • Blazing fire with a group of young people silhouetted against the bright flames

Having survived an armed robbery in Tanzania, I trust few education providers with my life. For Mat, however, I would allow him to rub nettles all over my hands. I didn't hesitate, therefore to recommend him to my school to run bushcraft camps for Year 7. They were a resounding success with repeat bookings made immediately. Mat is passionate about what he does. He is authentic and has tremendous integrity, combining emotional intelligence with bravery and expertise.

Informative, fun sessions with instructors that you know live and breathe what they're teaching... We spent a few days with Really Wild doing awesome sessions - Foraging, fire craft, knife skills. The whole team were passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fantastically good with kids! We thoroughly enjoyed our time and look forward to more sessions in the future. These guys and gals really know their stuff! And know how to make it accessible to young and old. Highly recommended!

  • Gransfor Axe lodged in a stump; a group is seen blurred out in the background

I was fortunate enough to attend an excellent Arctic Survival Expedition to Finland with Really Wild Education. It was brilliantly organised and one of the most memorable and enjoyable school trips I have been on. Matt and Steve are a very likeable and knowledgable team. They encourage all students to take part in activities and are experts in their field. I cannot recommend them highly enough. From a very happy teacher.

  • Dense deep woodland with a bed of crunchy leaves - inviting curiosity and discovery

Mat and the Really Wild Team are really fantastic. I have repeatedly booked them for an educational bushcraft trip with 12-13 year olds. Mat, having been a classroom teacher, is absolutely brilliant with all students - from those ‘problem’ boys to moody girls and kids lacking in confidence. I had total faith in his ability to run the week and manage our group. All the students and teachers learnt so much. The Really Wild Team are so impressive we are booking more trips and I’m looking forward to working with Mat in the future!

  • Sand dunes. Bright blue sky with streaky cirrus and alto-cumulus fluffy clouds, above warm golden sands with grasses that stabilise the dunes.

I teach 11-18 year olds in West London, many of whom rarely get the chance to see open countryside and woodlands. Our Y7 bushcraft experience was truly transformative. They tackled a huge range of challenging tasks under expert supervision and developed skills of grit and self-reliance that will serve them well. Really Wild Education’s instructors deserve the highest plaudits. Their carefully planned programme and emphasis on children being self-sufficient (the pupils did the cooking and washing up, too!) were hugely valuable. Plus the team’s professionalism and proactive attitude meant the teachers had a relaxing and fun time too!

  • Simple little fire to heat a pot of water for a brew. Choosing the right materials and fire structure for the job saves energy which can be critical in survival situations.

I have worked with Matt and Steve on numerous occasions in the 'wilds' of Cornwall as one of their chosen Sea Kayak Adventure guides and can say with all honesty how amazing and educating their expeditions are! They have an incredible knowledge of the land around them and the kids and adults who take part all go home having had an awesome adventure full of knowledge and excitement! I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

  • Bright sunrise cutting over the hills and through the trees, a brilliant glow comes from the greens of the leaves.

We had an amazing experience with the Really Wild team who did an amazing corporate day for us in the woods. Good for team building and has provided great office banter ever since!

The outdoor education team at Ravens Wood School wanted its students to experience something special that they would never usually get to do at their age. The Really Wild team certainly delivered! Highly recommended!

Thank you for such a brilliant and fantastic time!! All the children were full of such excitement, saying it was the best trip they'd ever been on. All the adults were very complimentary too...and wanted to stay even longer.
